Memorandum

Date: May 7, 2024

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Wendy Mondfrans, Chief Deputy Probation Officer

Subject: Approve Long Distance Travel to the National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies for Eva Lara and Chelsea Perez being held in New Orleans, Louisiana September 8th through 11th, 2024

Executive Summary:

The National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies Annual Conference and Training Institute is being held in New Orleans, Louisiana September 8th through 11th, 2024. Officers Lara and Perez handle all pretrial cases for the Probation Department and this conference is the premier training for pretrial services. Because of the distance of the conference, the officers may need to travel the day before and the day after depending on the timing of the classes.

The Probation Pretrial Unit is the newest unit in the Department and there is currently no other local training of this caliber.

Pursuant to the County of Lake Travel Policy 15-1.3(D), I respectfully request your Board's approval for Eva Lara and Chelsea Perez to travel out of State to attend the National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies Annual Conference and Training Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana.
