From: Luke Bingham, Sheriff/Coroner

Subject: Approve Travel Exceeding 1,500 Miles to send Sgt. Dennis Keithly, Detective Michael Nakahara, and Sheriff Luke Bingham to attend the Northern California Coalition to Safeguard Communities (NCCSC) Human Trafficking Training in Decatur, Illinois

Executive Summary: The Sheriff's Office respectfully requests approval to send Sgt. Dennis Keithly, Detective Michael Nakahara, and Sheriff Luke Bingham to attend the Northern California Coalition to Safeguard Communities (NCCSC) Human Trafficking Training in Decatur, Illinois.

This training focuses on the identification, investigation, and enforcement of human trafficking crimes in Lake County. It also emphasizes victim identification, intervention, and support services.
The Northern California Coalition to Safeguard Communities is comprised of six Northern California Sheriff's Offices, District Attorney's Offices, and Victim Advocates, working in partnership with Non-Governmental Organizations. The coalition is dedicated to collaboration aimed at preventing and deterring human trafficking within our communities. The NCCSC Board is composed of the Sheriff from each participating agency.

All costs associated with training, travel, lodging, and per diem will be coordinated and/or reimbursed by the NCCSC.

This training directly relates to the duties and responsibilities of Sgt. Keithly and Detective Nakahara. It is also directly related to Sheriff Bingham's role as a member of the NCCSC Board of Directors.

Therefore, pursuant to Section 1.6 E of the County of Lake Travel Policy, I respectfully request the Board's approval for travel exceeding 1,500 miles to support Sgt. Keithly's, Det. Nakahara's, and Sheriff Bingham's participation in this training and to further the continued success of the Northern California Coalition to Safeguard Communities.
