Subject: Approve the retirement of Lake County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic K-9 Raider to his handler Deputy Matthew McCabe for the cost of $1.00 per DSA section 2.6.5.
Executive Summary: The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has found it necessary to retire Narcotic K-9 Raider. This is due to the age of this K-9. Raider will be retired and assigned to his handler, Deputy Matthew McCabe.
Under section 2.6.5 of the DSA MOU, the handler has the right to purchase this canine for $1.00. Deputy McCabe has been caring for this animal and will assume all responsibility for Raider at this time. Deputy McCabe will be exercising his right of first refusal to purchase Raider for $1.00.
