Memorandum

Date: January 13, 2026

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Brad Rasmussen, Chair & District 4 Supervisor

Subject: (a) Approve Proclamation of the Lake County Board of Supervisors Commending Public Officials for Exemplary Service in Public Safety; and (b) Authorize staff to add the names of honorees and the Chair to sign and issue each completed proclamation for the corresponding honoree at the awards ceremony

Executive Summary: On January 25, 2026, several local community service clubs are working with me to conduct an awards ceremony for law enforcement and fire agencies within Lake County. A total of 16 law enforcement officers, firefighters and dispatchers will be honored.

The Agencies are as follows:

Lake County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, Lake County Probation, Lake County District Attorney, Lakeport Police Department, Clearlake Police Department and the fire departments from Lakeport, Kelseyville, Northshore, Lake County, South Lake and CalFire.

Each of the agencies select their officer, dispatcher and firefighter honorees. Neither the service clubs nor the County of Lake are involved in the selection of award recipients. The honorees themselves also may not yet know they are receiving the award.

To further recognize the award recipients, I am asking the Board of Supervisors to approve the draft proclamation and authorize the board Chair and staff to add the names after approval and then issue these proclamations to the 16 honorees at the January 25, 2026 ceremony on behalf of the full board.

Since these public safety professionals are being honored for their work in the calendar year 2025, our 2025 Chair Supervisor EJ Crandell will present the proclamations at the awards event.
