Subject: (a) Approve Lease for Commercial Property Located at 514 Lakeport Blvd, Lakeport and (b) authorize the Interim Department Head to Sign

Executive Summary:
Lake County Health Services has identified the need for additional work space to house the planned expansion to the COVID Response/Mitigation staff. In an effort to not delay the hiring of this much needed additional staff, Health Services investigated the option of leasing commercial property. Several locations were toured, but unfortunately most of the properties did not meet the department's needs due to space size, repair needs, or cost.

The property we are requesting approval to lease is located at 514 Lakeport Blvd, Lakeport, in the plaza connecting with Jimmy's Restaurant. The property is 800 square feet, and is already structured into several individual office spaces. Repairs/remodel needed for the space to be habitable are minimal - paint, flooring, small area of sheetrock patch, and possible additional electrical outlets. The cost of the lease from 12/1/21 through 12/31/22 is $800 per month, with the option to renew for additional months at an increase to $824 per month.

In addition to this property being the most cost effective option and requiring the least amount of repair/remodel to move in, it is also under 1 mile away from the Bevins building. This proximity ensures that staff at both locations can easily engage due to the minimal time involved traveling between locations. Additionally this lease request was reviewed by the county Space Committee and unanimously approved by all four official voting members.

This requested space rental is fully funded through the ELC Expansion grant, and has been budgeted accordingly.
