Subject: Adopt Resolution Authorizing the County of Lake to Accept Grant Funds in the amount of $383,527 from the State of California Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General, Tobacco Enforcement Grant Program, and Authorizing the Professional Services Agreement with Lake County Health Services
Executive Summary:
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded Lake County Health Services a Tobacco Enforcement Grant in the amount of $383,527. The purpose of this grant is to enhance the enforcement of tobacco-related laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local policies designed to reduce youth access to tobacco products and prevent tobacco sales to minors. The grant funding will support the implementation of targeted enforcement efforts, including but not limited to:
* Compliance checks and inspections of tobacco retailers.
* Educational efforts to raise awareness about tobacco sales regulations.
* Collaborative efforts with local law enforcement agencies to increase the effectiveness of enforcement.
