Memorandum

Date: October 7, 2025

To: The Honorable Eddie Crandell, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Lars Ewing, Public Services Director

Subject: Adopt Resolution Authorizing the Public Services Director to submit applications to CalRecycle for all grant applications for which the County of Lake is eligible.

Executive Summary:

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) routinely offers grant opportunities to local agencies throughout the state to support recycling, waste reduction, and related programs.

Public Services staff prepared an updated resolution authorizing the Public Services Director to submit applications for all CalRecycle grant programs for which the County of Lake is eligible. These programs include, but are not limited to, beverage container recycling and litter education and prevention, organics management, used oil and filter disposal, tire amnesty and household hazardous waste events.

The proposed resolution would provide this authorization for a period of five years, ensuring timely and efficient participation in CalRecycle funding opportunities that benefit Lake County residents and the environment. A similar resolution was approved by your Board in 2020.
