Memorandum
Date: December 7, 2021
To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors
From: Lars Ewing, Public Services Director
Subject: Approve Amendment No. 3 to the Buckingham Peak Communications Site Lease Agreement with T-Mobile
Executive Summary:
T-Mobile leases space from the County on Mount Konocti Buckingham Peak to accommodate their cellular equipment. Under the terms of the lease agreement, T-Mobile is supplied with electrical power from the County's electrical system, and T-Mobile pays the County directly for their electrical usage. This arrangement applies whether the power is received from the County's dedicated PG&E electrical line for prime power or from the County's on-site backup generator. Recently T-Mobile completed installation of their own dedicated PG&E electrical service line, but their desire is to maintain access to the County's emergency backup power generator in the event of a prime power outage. The attached agreement facilitates this arrangement. As with other generator-sharing arrangements, this does not guarantee uninterrupted access to emergency generator power and prioritizes the County's need for emergency power.
Attached for your consideration is an amendment to the lease agreement with T-Mobile which documents the change of their prime power source from the County to their own dedicated PG&E electrical service, and includes a new monthly payment of $50 per month to account for the connection to the County's standby generator.
