To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Bruno Sabatier, County Supervisor, District No. 2

Subject: Approve the Continuation of Proclamation Declaring a Shelter Crisis Urgency Due to the Current Need for Sheltering for Those Experiencing Homelessness during the Weather and Temperature Patterns That the County of Lake has Been Experiencing

Executive Summary:
AB 2553 provides guidance to local governing bodies for declaring a shelter crisis. The need for a shelter is crucial to provide respite and safe shelter for those experiencing homelessness. This declaration will only be utilized to help support a temporary shelter. Once an emergency has been declared, the Continuum of Care and Behavioral Health of Lake County will continue to pursue solutions for permanent shelters. The HHAP Round 4 grant application was approved by the Board of Supervisors recently in hopes to obtain funding to provide a permanent shelter in the future. Both groups are dedicated to finding solutions and ensuring that all shelters provide adequate and appropriate services to those in need.
