Memorandum

Date: June 18, 2024

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Katherine VanDerWall, Agricultural Commissioner Sealer of Weights and Measures

Subject: Adopt Resolution to Appropriate Unanticipated Revenue in Budget 2601 Agricultural Commissioner
Executive Summary:

The Lake County Agricultural Commissioner has received $69,897 in unrealized revenue this fiscal year. This is the result of unanticipated revenue received from the Unclaimed Gas Tax (UCGT) and Department of Pesticide Regulation licensed cannabis permit activity reimbursements (001.2601.452.53-90). With your Board's approval, this revenue will be used to fund portions of the County's aquatic weed control program.

This unanticipated revenue needs to be spent this fiscal year if the County expects to meet the Maintenance of Effort (MOE) with the California Department of Food and Agricultural requirements for receiving Unclaimed Gas Tax (UCGT) funds in FY 23/24. If the County does not meet the MOU requirement, UCGT funding could be jeopardized in FY 24/25. The UCGT is the largest single revenue source for the Agricultural Commissioner's budget.
