Memorandum
Date: March 26th, 2024
To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors
From: Elise Jones, Director of Behavioral Health
Subject: Consideration of Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement Between County of Lake and North Valley Behavioral Health, LLC. for Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital Services and Professional Services Associated with Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitalization in the amount of $1,350,000 for Fiscal Year 2023-2024
Executive Summary:
Unfortunately, Lake County has seen an increase of severe behavioral health needs. We will be coming to the Board in the near future to present on these issues.
We are seeing a large number of beneficiaries who require a higher level of care, including competency restoration services for misdemeanor offenses. Also a higher level of need for people who are challenging to find placement for due to significant behavioral/safety issues.
North Vally Behavioral Health is one of the only facilities in California that accepts these individuals. Due to the high level of care these are expensive placements to pay for. The good news is that North Valley Services are largely reimbursable. They are not 100% reimbursable but we see anywhere from 50-70% back from Medi-Cal on these services. The remainder comes out of our realignment funds.
