Memorandum

Date: June 13, 2023

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Mireya G. Turner, Community Development Director

Subject: Approve Amendment of Previously Approved Purchase of New Vehicle for Building & Safety Division, and Authorize the Community Development Director to sign the Purchase Order.

Executive Summary: On October 18, 2022, the Board approved the purchase of a 2023 Ford Explorer for the Building and Safety Division, in the amount of $40,184.06. Staff recently received notice from Ford that our order was canceled due to lack of stock availability. Staff was given the option of re-ordering the vehicles at a significantly higher price, however, staff searched for another vendor.

Central Garage Staff found a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse available at a local vender. It is very similar to the Explorer with a total cost of $41,230.28. The Traverse will meet the needs of the Division, and funds are included in the FY 2022/23 budget. Staff requests approval of the change in vehicle, and an increase of $1,046.22, for a total purchase price not to exceed $41,230.28. The previous and current vehicle quotes are included as Attachments 1 and 2.
