Subject: Approve the transfer and sale of sixty-one (61) Glock 9mm Firearms from the Lake County Sheriff's Office to ProForce Law Enforcement, approve acceptance of payment totaling $15,555.00 in accordance with the agreed sales agreement and, approve the removal of said firearms from County of Lake Fixed Assets.
Executive Summary: Pursuant to California Penal Code section 26620, the Lake County Sheriff's Office respectfully requests authorization to transfer and sell sixty-one (61) department-owned Glock 9mm firearms. The inventory consists of twelve (12) Glock 34 pistols and forty-nine (49) Glock 17 pistols. These firearms were originally purchased by the department for use as service weapons and are proposed to be sold through ProForce Law Enforcement.
California law authorizes the sale of department-owned firearms between law enforcement agencies and federally licensed firearms dealers, wholesalers, manufacturers, or importers, and exempts such transactions from standard firearm dealer processing requirements.
The firearms proposed for sale are serviceable Glock 34 and Glock 17 9mm pistols that were originally purchased using Asset Forfeiture monies and are currently owned by the County of Lake. These firearms are no longer required to meet the operational needs of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Prior to transfer, the Lake County Sheriff's Office verified the serial numbers, condition, and serviceability of each firearm. The completed County of Lake Property Transfer Record form is attached listing each serial number.
The agreed-upon sale price is two hundred seventy dollars ($270.00) per firearm, including three magazines. The sale price will be reduced by five dollars ($5.00) for each missing magazine, for a total sale amount of fifteen thousand five hundred fifty-five dollars ($15,555.00).
