Subject: Presentation of Proclamation Honoring Brian Sumpter for his 40 years of Devotion and Service to the County of Lake

Executive Summary:
WHEREAS, Sports Editor Brian Sumpter has served as the voice for athletes for nearly 40 years. Sports are an integral part of the successes for many students; and

WHEREAS, we honor Brian Sumpter for his extraordinary achievements and dedication to accuracy, fairness and professionalism in his career; and

WHEREAS, Brian Sumpter brought special events and tournaments to Lake County improving tourism and morale for the benefit of Lake County; and

WHEREAS, Brian Sumpter was the first sports editor in the County of Lake covering five high schools independently, among numerous other county sporting events; and

WHEREAS, Brian Sumpter has earned the respect of the community, going above-and-beyond his responsibilities for nearly four decades. He has commuted from Sonoma County and worked nights, weekends and holidays without fail for the duration of his career to provide the gold standard of sports coverage in Lake County.

NOW, THEREFORE, we declare appreciation for Brian Sumpter's devotion and service to the County of Lake and desire that there should be a permanent record of gratitude for his community service.
