Subject: Adopt Resolution Approving Agreement with the State of California for Help America Vote Act (HAVA) Federal Funds in the Amount of $100,000, for Activities to Improve the Administration of Elections for Federal Office, including to enhance Election Technology and make Election Security Improvements; and Authorizing the Registrar of Voters to Execute the Agreement with the State.
Executive Summary:
New state and federal HAVA funding has been authorized by the state and federal governments to be used for election purposes. $9.2 million in state and federal funds for costs associated with election security is being made available to counties.
The HAVA funds received pursuant to this contract shall be used for reimbursement for activities to improve the administration of elections for Federal office, including to enhance election technology and make election security improvements, as authorized under sections 101, 103, and 104 of HAVA.
By adopting this Resolution, the county will be entering into an agreement, attached, with the Secretary of State to receive a grant in the amount of $100,000 and authorize the Registrar of Voters to execute the agreement with the State. The term of the agreement is February 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
