Subject: Approve the Department of Boating and Waterways 2025/26 Application for Financial Aid in the amount of $493,450.88; and authorize the Sheriff to sign the application; and b) Adopt resolution for Authorization to Apply for and Accept, If Awarded, Fiscal Year 2025/26 Boating Safety And Enforcement Financial Aid Program Funding from The State of California, Department of Parks And Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, in the Authorized Amount Of $315,312, and Authorization to Participate in the Program


Executive Summary: The Sheriff's Department requests your Board's approval of the attached Department of Boating and Waterways financial aid application for Fiscal year 2025/26. This application is due to the State by December 31, 2024. A minute order authorizing Sheriff Rob Howe to sign the document is required. Subvention monies from the State, along with County Boat Taxes are utilized to fund the Sheriff/Marine Patrol budget 2205. The current boat tax information was unavailable at the submission of this agenda item and will be adjusted when the information becomes available.

General fund monies would need to be used to cover staffing costs if these funds were unavailable.
