Subject: Consideration of Agreement for Professional Services to Provide Alternate Public Health Officer (PHO) Services with Daniel Henry Ziegler, MD, for a Term of Ten Months for an Amount not to Exceed $90,000 for the Term of the Agreement and Authorize the Health Services Director to Sign; and b) Administer the Oath of Office
Executive Summary:
In an effort to maintain continuity of services and ensure uninterrupted vital operations and services going forward, Lake County Health Services (LCHS) requests the Board to approve the Agreement for Professional Services with Daniel Henry Ziegler, MD, as Alternate Public Health Officer (PHO) from September 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027.
Dr. Ziegler graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine & Public Health and is an Emergency Medicine Specialist with 30 years of experience in Emergency Medical Care. In 2021, Dr. Ziegler became a chief medical officer for California’s Disaster Response Medical Assistance Teams, a California Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMSA) division providing medical teams for CalFire.
With an extensive history in emergency medical services, Dr. Ziegler will provide a valuable service as an alternate PHO for LCHS.
LCHS is committed to community health and safety, and this appointment is essential to the department in meeting regulatory, strategic, and emergency response obligations without interruption. LCHS respectfully requests that your board approve this contract to provide alternate PHO services.
