MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Board of Supervisors
FROM: Anita L. Grant, County Counsel
DATE: September 25, 2018
SUBJECT: Consideration of a Resolution to Declare Certain County Real Property as Surplus Property and to Declare the Intention to Authorize Conveyance to the Adjoining Landowner
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
At the request of Supervisor Brown, the above-referenced resolution is presented for your Board’s consideration.
The real property which is the subject of this item is a relatively small and landlocked parcel acquired by the County in 1999. It is my understanding that this property presents no economic or other advantage to the County and is not, standing alone, a property that can be developed. It would appear then, the only ostensible value this property would have is to an adjoining landowner. Here, the landowner is Sheku Management, LLC, the owner of that real property commonly known as the Konocti Harbor Resort.
Given the circumstances, it appears that the subject property is of negligible value to the County and there is no present use made by the County of this property and no indication that any future use could be made.
By the adoption of the resolution presented, your Board would determine the subject property to be surplus and would further determine it is your intention, subject to the conditions enumerated in that document, to convey that surplus property to the adjoining landowner.
If this meets with the approval of your Board, the resolution may be offered for passage.
