SUBJECT: Approve Contract by and between the County of Lake and Dr. Jacqueline Benjamin, MD for pathology services as needed by the Sheriff/Coroner; and authorize the Chair to sign.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Sheriff’s Department requests approval of the attached contract with Dr. Jacqueline Benjamin who is a highly qualified Forensic and Neuropathologist and has been performing autopsy’s for the County since 2014. The last fee increase was in February 2015. This contract reflects an increase for an autopsy from $1,250 to $1,300 and for an external exam from $620 to $800. The Sheriff’s Department estimates authorizing approximately 100 autopsy’s and 65 external exams in FY17/18 based on prior year services. Dr. Benjamin also provides a number of other services including chart reviews and testimony.
