PROCLAMATION
DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2025 AS CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, Child Support Awareness Month is recognized in California and nationwide. This year, it's important to acknowledge the positive changes and modernization across the country: in the last five years there has been more legislative action improving the child support program than in the past five decades.
WHEREAS, Child Support Services welcomes the new laws that are making our program more equitable for California families. Our wide range of services is completely free for those paying child support and remain at little to no cost for support recipients.
WHEREAS, Child support professionals are dedicated to assisting parents and legal guardians in providing consistent support for their children and understand that one size does not fit all. From prioritizing payment to families over aid recoupment to utilizing enforcement actions that promote payment and family stability, the state is committed to finding solutions and meeting people where they are.
WHEREAS, During Child Support Awareness Month, we recognize the role of these efforts to help Californian's co-parenting their children to thrive and avoid the expense and hassles that come with attorney's and private companies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Lake does hereby proclaim the month of August 2025 as Child Support Awareness Month and encourages all Californians to recognize that by providing for all of California's children is one of the best investments our state can make.
