Subject: Approve Travel of Over 1,500 Miles for Lake County District 2 and District 5 Supervisors to Attend the NACo Annual Legislative Conference in Washington D.C. from February 27, 2025, through March 5, 2025
Executive Summary:
The annual NACo Legislative Conference will take place this year in Washington D.C. from March 1 to March 4, 2025. Supervisors Sabatier and Pyska will be attending an free Disaster Response training on February 28, necessitating departure on February 27. The conference ends on March 4 with a General Session and a full day spent on Capitol Hill visiting representatives to discuss issues specific to Lake County. Both supervisors will travel home the morning of March 5.
During the conference, Supervisors Sabatier and Pyska will learn about federal programs that can benefit the County of Lake, attend rural county meetings, discuss policies in the areas of Agriculture, Economic and Workforce Development, Energy and Land Use, and emerging issues such as Federal Immigration, Regulatory Outlooks, and Tribal Relations.
Networking is always a key component to these conferences and contacts made are extremely valuable as information, policy, and ideas are brought back to Lake County. Of particular importance is to foster relationships with previous contacts to further solutions impacting the communities we serve.
Estimated cost per Supervisor is no more than $3,500 and includes registration (early bird), hotel (host), meals not provided, transportation to and from airport, and airfare (roundtrip).
