Subject: (a) Waive the Competitive Bidding Process pursuant to section 2-38.2(2) as it is not in the public's interest due to the unique nature of the goods or services; and (b) Approve Agreement between the County of Lake and ExamWorks, LLC for Independent Medical Examinations and Peer Review Services with an amount not to exceed $25,000 per fiscal year and authorize the Chair to sign
Executive Summary:
It is the County of Lake's responsibility to determine an industrial disability retirement in accordance with Government Code sections 21154 and 21156. Disability and industrial disability determination for safety employees is made by the local safety agency. Exam Works, LLC will facilitate medical assessment services including but not limited to independent medical examinations and peer review services to obtain competent medical opinion. This will help the County of Lake determine if an Industrial Disability Retirement should be approved or denied. Exam Works has different specialist doctors and multiple locations in California.
Additionally, this vendor is closest to proximity to the County of Lake.
