Memorandum

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Scott De Leon, Water Resources Director and Angela De Palma-Dow, Water Resources Program Coordinator

Subject: Approve Request to Waive 900 Hour Limit for Extra-Help Water Resources Ramp Monitor Mark Duncan

Executive Summary:

The Water Resources Department is requesting the approval to exceed the 900 hour extra-help limit for ramp monitor Mark Duncan. Funds for this position is allocated under Budget Unit 8109, and sourced through several State Division of Boating and Waterways Quagga Mussel Prevention grants, and a federal grant through the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Between these current grants, there are sufficient funds to cover this request. If this request is approved, hours are not to exceed 999.

Water Resources Extra-Help ramp staff have been working this year since the season started in February, and have been working additional hours to maintain ramp coverage during a very busy fishing tournament season that is taking advantage of our very full lake. February through June is the busiest season for ramp monitoring due to fishing tournaments and the start of the season with boats going back into the water. Additionally, we currently have some staff shortages we are trying to supplement to maintain ramp coverage during this busy time.

Thank you for your consideration on waiving the 900-hour limit for Extra-Help Water Resources ramp monitor Mark Duncan.
