Memorandum

Date: May 11, 2023

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Scott De Leon, Public Works Director

Subject: Approve Purchase Orders for the Purchase of two (2) vehicles for the Central Garage Fleet at revised prices, and authorize the Public Works Director/Assistant Purchasing Agent to sign the Purchase Orders

Executive Summary:

On October 18, 2022, your Board approved the purchase of six vehicles for the Central Garage Fleet, two of which were Ford Escape's intended for the Behavioral Health Department. Staff was just informed that these purchases have been cancelled by the supplier due to a lack of inventory and supply issues. Staff was given the option of re-ordering the vehicles at a significantly higher price, however in lieu of re-ordering staff searched for another vendor.

Fortunately, our local dealer, Matt Mazzei, had two similar vehicles in stock and though they are a different brand and model, the vehicles are very similar to the Ford Escape's originally planned for purchase. Additionally, the price for both vehicles is slightly less than what we planned to spend on the original purchase. The price quotation for the two Chevy Equinox's is attached to this memorandum.
