To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Sheriff Luke Bingham

Subject:                     9:05 A.M. Consideration of Proclamation of a Local Emergency due to the Lucas Fire

Executive Summary:

A wildland fire known as the Lucas Fire began in Lake County on September 10, 2026, resulting in conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property within the County of Lake. These conditions extended beyond the control of the available resources of Lake County.  On September 11, Luke Bingham, Lake County Sheriff/Coroner/Director of Emergency Services, proclaimed the existence of a local emergency.  Presently, this fire is only 5% contained. The Board of Supervisors must confirm the existence of a local emergency within seven (7) days of that date.
