Subject: Consideration of a Letter of Support for Chief Climate Resiliency Officer Serving as Co-Investigator for Second Phase of Climate Health, Adaptation, and Resilience Mobilizing (CHARM) Lake County Project

Executive Summary:

The proposed CHARM Lake County's Phase II project, informed by the community partners involved in the first phase of CHARM funding, aims to increase resilience to climate driven events (CDE) among vulnerable populations by working directly with select communities to increase access to services, knowledge and awareness of the effects of CDEs, and community connectedness. The project team leading CHARM Lake County recognizes the need to develop resilience at the individual, household, and community levels for sustained effect.

The project will recruit individuals and households within target communities, focusing on the most vulnerable populations identified in Phase I of the CHARM project. These participants will be invited to participate in resilience workshops (with time compensated and travel supported or provided), supplied with basic resilience supplies, and connected with already existing services. These workshops and connection events will be led by trusted messengers in the target communities and will be informed by the vital and impactful work that NGOs, Tribes, advocates, and county and municipal governments are doing.

The Chief Climate Resiliency Officer for the County of Lake, Terre Logsdon, will serve as Co-Investigator on the Phase II project. The time commitment is estimated to be about 24 hours per year for four years until Spring of 2029.
