Subject: Presentation of Proclamation Designating the week of April 1-7, 2024, as Public Health Week in Lake County

Executive Summary:

WHEREAS, the theme for National Public Health Week in 2024 is "Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health"; and

WHEREAS, the goal of National Public Health Week in 2024 is to recognize the contributions of public health in-
(1) improving the health of the people of the United States; and
(2) achieving health equity; and

WHEREAS, County of Lake Health Services seeks to actively promote policies, systems, and services that enable good health and to remove obstacles and systemic and structural barriers, such as poverty, racism, gender discrimination, and other forms of oppression, that have resulted in health inequities; and

WHEREAS, County of Lake Health Services recognizes and seeks to address the health disparities experienced by rural communities as a whole, and especially highlights the following groups: Tribal populations, Latinx populations, populations living in poverty, aging populations, those who are geographically isolated, and those who are experiencing substance use or mental health issues; and

WHEREAS, the Administration Division is improving the health of Lake County by enabling each program under the Health Services Department to function in their purpose of promoting and protecting the well-being of local residents; and

WHEREAS, the Environmental Health Division is improving the health of the people of Lake County through education and encouraging compliance with public health laws and ensuring safety standards are met; and

WHEREAS, the Public Health Division is improving local health outcomes by providing information, resources, access, and services to Lake County community members; and
