Memorandum

Date: October 27, 2020

To: The Honorable Moke Simon, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Lars Ewing, Public Services Director

Subject: Approve Agreement for Electrical Engineering Services for the Hill Road Correctional Facility Generator Upgrade Project with JMC Corporation in the amount not to exceed $51,000; and authorize the Chair to sign the Agreement

Executive Summary:

The current standby emergency power generation system for the Hill Road Correctional Facility is a 300KW generator that is insufficient to fully power the facility and is nearing the end of its operating life. Consequently staff has been planning a project to replace the existing generator with a redundant two-generator system that would provide approximately twice as much power to the facility.

On August 10, 2020 the Public Services Department solicited proposals for electrical engineering services for a redesign of the jail generator system. One proposal was received from JMC Corporation. Staff recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Agreement for Electrical Engineering Services for the Hill Road Correctional Facility Generator Project with JMC Corporation in the amount not to exceed $51,000 and authorize the Chair to sign the Agreement.
