SUBJECT: (a) Waive the formal bidding process, pursuant to Lake County Code Section 38.2, as it is not in the public interest due to the unique nature of goods or services; and (b) Approve the purchase one (1) Utility Police Interceptor from Downtown Ford in the amount of $28,793 from the Sheriff/Civil budget 2207/62.72
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Sheriff's Department is requesting Your Boards' approval to purchase one (1) Utility Police Interceptor. This vehicle will be a marked patrol vehicle to be used by the Civil Division for civil services. Since it is being paid for by the Sheriff/Civil budget, there is no cost to the County general fund for this purchase.
Vehicle quotes were previously requested from Ukiah Ford, Corning Ford and Downtown Ford with Downtown Ford being the low bidder. There are no local vendors that could provide a bid on this vehicle.
Your Board awarded this bid on August 2, 2016 (#16-743). Downtown Ford has validated their bid is still valid and so we are asking that you waive the normal sealed bid process under Ordinance #2406 and #2582, section 2-41 and award the bid to Downtown Ford in the amount of $28,793 and authorize the Sheriff/Coroner or his designee to issue a purchase order. The budget transfer is being approved as part of the mid-year budget process.
