TO:                                          Board of Housing Commissioners

FROM:                     Kathy Maes, Executive Director Lake County Housing Commission

DATE:                                          March 28, 2017

SUBJECT:                     10:00 A.M. - (Sitting as the Lake County Housing Commission) - Public Hearing for Section 8 Administrative Plan Changes

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This year there are very few changes being recommended to the Section 8 Administrative Plan. These recommendations are being made based on changes in Federal Law and Policy.

The major changes include:

A)                     Excluding arrest records of existing participants and potential program participants when the arrest has not resulted in a conviction.

B)                     Allowing self-certification for families/individuals claiming less than $5,000 in assets.

As these changes and all other changes have been available for public review and comment for the past forty-five days, it is recommended that the floor be opened for any last comments. Program staff will then take all input received, finalize the plan subject to the concurrence of the Section 8 Resident Advisory Board and return to the Board of Supervisors in a future meeting to finalize and request approval for the recommended changes.
