SUBJECT: Consideration of Amendment No.1 to the Contract Agreement between the County of Lake and the Fire Protection Districts for Dispatch Services
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The County recently received a letter from the Lake County Fire Chiefs’ Association, signed by Lakeport Fire Chief Douglas P. Hutchison, advising of the Chiefs’ desire to secure another provider for dispatch services and plan to transition over the next 12-18 months.
At present, the contract, as written, provides that either party may terminate, “for cause.” In light of the Chiefs’ desire to make other arrangements, we are proposing amending the agreement, to make it possible to terminate for any reason, upon 90 day notice. This can be accomplished by removing the “for cause” language from the Term and Termination provision. Both parties desire to make this change.
I ask that our Board discuss and consider approving this amendment.
