SUBJECT: Approve Long Distance Travel for Section 8 Program Manager Edgar Perez to Attend the Nan McKay Housing Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, August 21-22, 2017.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On the recommendation of the HUD field office in San Francisco, as well as of that of a sister Housing Authority, I am requesting Board approval to have Edgar Perez, Section 8 Program
Manager, attend the Nan McKay Housing Conference, which will be held in Boston Massachusetts August 21-22, 2017.
This conference will provide training in current Section 8 issues and will provide staff with a “big picture” view of Housing as prescribed by HUD.
As you are aware, Section 8 is a Federal Program and therefore training opportunities in California are difficult to come by. The field office staff in San Francisco feels strongly that our program staff will greatly benefit from attending training and conferences centered on Section 8 topics.
