SUBJECT: Approve Long Distance Travel July 24, 2017 through July 26, 2017 to Alexandria, VA for Jessica Hamner, Program Coordinator, Public Health Division
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Jessica Hamner, Program Coordinator in the Public Health Accreditation Program has been invited to attend an in-person learning event for new Accreditation Site Visitors.
The purpose of this training is to review the site visit process and principles, to present roles of the Site Visitor and to develop Site Visitor skills through a set of activities that reflect the steps in discussing a measure during the training.
Preparation for the accreditation process is a demanding effort. For some measures, a health department is not sure how to begin nor who to ask for assistance. This will be part of what Ms. Hamner will be introduced to. Attendance at this training will provide excellent information, resources and guidance for our Department's strategic plan for National Public Health Accreditation as Ms. Hamner moves into a role of Accreditation Site Visitor.
Travel and all associated costs, including airfare, meals, airline baggage fees, ground transportation, hotel and airport parking are covered by the National Network of Public Health Institutes and an Accreditation Support Initiative Grant from the National Association of City County Health Officials (NACCHO). There is no cost to the Department or to the County.
As Health Services Director, I fully support Ms. Hamner's attendance.
