SUBJECT: Consideration of Appointment of One Supervisor to serve as alternate Governing Board (GB) Member to the Lake and Mendocino Area Agency on Aging (AAA)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
As you are aware, I am designated to serve on the AAA GB, which meets approximately 4-6 times a year, alternating between Lake and Mendocino counties. Under the GB structure, alternates are allowed, if appointed by our Board. I respectfully request that we consider appointing an alternate so we are certain to have representation in the event I am unable to attend a meeting. I would appreciate any Board member volunteering to serve in this capacity.
As a matter of background, County Administrative Officer Carol Huchingson is also a member of the GB. Ms. Huchingson has served since the creation of the Joint Powers Agreement for the AAA and was originally appointed by our Board when she was our Social Services Director. Ms. Huchingson has agreed to continue with the AAA GB for the time being for the purposes of continuity. The intent is for each County to be represented by two voting members at each GB meeting, complimented one additional “at-large” appointee for a total of 5.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Appoint one supervisor as designee member to serve on the Lake and Mendocino Area Agency on Aging Governing Board.
