MEMORANDUM

TO: Board of Supervisors
FROM: Christopher Veach, County Librarian
DATE: July 11, 2017
SUBJECT: Consideration to Close County Library - Lakeport Branch to the Public from August 1st through August 5th

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: To facilitate safe and efficient installation of new carpet at the Lakeport branch of the Lake County Library I am requesting that the Lakeport Library close for the week of August 1st through August 5th.

With the assistance of USDA Rural Development the Lakeport branch is getting new carpet installed starting August 1st, 2017. The entire carpet installation is estimated to take 10 business days.

The carpet installers will start with the entrance areas to facilitate opening to the public as soon as possible. The library will reopen with limited service to the public the week of August 8th through August 12th. During this time certain stacks and areas of the library will be off limits to the public, but patrons will be able to enter the lobby of the library and pick up requested materials from the library circulation desk.

While the library is closed, Library patrons will still be able to access the library system at our other locations in Clearlake, Upper Lake, and Middletown and online from our website: http://library.lakecountyca.gov. Patrons will also be able to return their checked out items at the outdoor book return at the Lakeport branch. Lakeport Storytime, which occurs weekly on Friday, will be held in Library Park at its normally scheduled time.

Once the carpet project is completed the library plans to reopen in full to the public on August 15th.
