SUBJECT: Consideration of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by and between the County of Mendocino and the County of Lake for Sealer of Weights and Measures Service
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
State law (Code Section 12200 of Business and Professions Code) requires that every county have an Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer. Currently, Mendocino County does not have a Sealer (due to retirement) and they have requested that I act as Interim Sealer until their position is filled.
Mendocino County has drafted and approved an MOU, with effective dates July 1, 2017 - August 31, 2017. The fee is $1,500.00 per month. If Mendocino County is unable to fill the vacant Sealer position by August 31, 2017, this MOU could be extended until such time as a viable candidate is in place. Lake County Counsel has reviewed and approved this MOU.
The anticipated workload of the Interim Sealer will not negatively impact my workload for Lake County.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Consideration of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by and between the County of Mendocino and the County of Lake for Sealer of Weights and Measures Service; and authorize the Department Head to sign.
