SUBJECT: Consideration of Acceptance of $10,000 Donation from the Friends of the Middletown Library
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The County Librarian requests that the Lake County Board of Supervisors accept the generous donation of $10,000 to buy new children’s material for the Middletown branch of the Lake County Library. The Friends of the Middletown Library have raised funds for the purpose of buying new children’s materials for the library. The library concurs that this would be a great asset for patrons of the Middletown branch and agrees to ensure the funds are spent for this purpose.

FISCAL IMPACT (Narrative): The funds would be received in the Library Improvement fund, Fund 71, which is used to receive and expend community donations. If the donation is accepted the library will request to increase the budget for the fiscal 2017/18 fiscal year for the Library Improvement fund.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends your Board accept the donation of $10,000 from the Friends of the Middletown Library for the specific purpose of purchasing children’s materials for the Middletown branch of the Lake County Library.
