SUBJECT: 9:15 A.M. - PUBLIC HEARING - Consideration of Ordinance Amending Subdivision (c) of Section 27-6 of Article 1 of Chapter 27 of the Lake County Code to Revise Fire Mitigation Fees for Cases of Locally Declared Emergencies
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Presently, the Fire Districts in the County collect a fire mitigation fee except when the owner of a dwelling that is destroyed by fire or other calamity, files for a building permit to rebuild within one year of destruction.
In an effort to help the 2015 fire victims, the area Fire Chiefs have opted to extend the one year deadline to three years if dwelling destruction occurred, 1) within the geographic area of, and 2) resulting from events of a declared local emergency. Approving this amendment to the ordinance will allow fire victims to avoid this fee as they undertake efforts to rebuild.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Consideration of a Proposed Ordinance Amending Subdivision (c) of Section 27-6 of Article 1 of Chapter 27 of the Lake County Code to Revise Fire Mitigation Fees for Cases of Locally Declared Emergencies. This ordinance will require the standard two readings should your Board wish to take action:
First, a motion to waive the reading of the ordinance and read it in title only.
Second, a motion to advance the ordinance on the agenda for consideration of passage.
