MEMORANDUM
TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
FROM: Denise Pomeroy, Health Services Director
DATE: October 24, 2017
SUBJECT: Consideration for Discussion and Decision Regarding the Wall of Honor
Located in the Courthouse
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
It has come to the attention of the Health Services Department that for some time the “Wall of Honor” which was erected to recognize the men and women of Lake County serving overseas in the war zones has not been maintained. The intent was for the Wall to be up for the duration of the war. Unfortunately, it has not been maintained due to the fact that the original agency that requested the Wall no longer exists.
The “Wall of Honor” distinguishes our local service members for their courage, commitment and sacrifice. The Health Services Department, Veteran Services Division would be glad to have the “Wall of Honor” relocated to their office where they will continue to care for, support and present the display of photos, not only for current serving members but to expand it to be more than it was originally intended to be. The photos will continue to identify the service member’s name, branch of service, rank and location.
