SUBJECT: (Sitting as the Lake County Sanitation District, Board of Directors) - Adopt Resolution to cancel Lake County Sanitation District Southeast (LACOSAN SE) O&M Reserve Designations in the amount of $20,000 and appropriate the funds to 254.8354.783.62-74 - Equipment - Other.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The FY 17/18 budget included an allocation in budget unit 8354 (LACOSAN SE) in the amount of $85,000 to purchase a mini-excavator. While performing mitigation after the recent floods, it became apparent that the equipment originally requested will not meet all workload demands. The reach on the excavator was too short and would not be useful in much of the work we need to perform.
We have received bids for an excavator that meets the specifications to perform all jobs required at the facility. We believe spending the additional $20,000.00 is financially prudent as it will ensure that we have adequate equipment to do the work and will not be forced to lease additional equipment.
We are requesting your Board's approval to cancel O&M Reserve Designations for the LACOSAN SE in the amount of $20,000.00 and appropriate the funds to 254.8354.783.62-74 - Equipment - Other. This will provide $105,000 for the purchase of the excavator.
