SUBJECT: Consideration of Resolution Pertaining to the Restoration or Reconstruction of Non-Conforming Buildings or Structures Destroyed by the Sulphur Fire
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Approximately 137 single family and manufactured homes were destroyed or damaged in the Sulphur Fire in the unincorporated area of the County. It is anticipated that there will be a desire to reconstruct or rebuild buildings or structures that we non-conforming to the Zoning Ordinance and which will not be able to comply with current development standards. This resolution defers the Article 59, Section 59.9 requirement that a major use permit requirement for the rebuilding or reconstruction of a destroyed non-conforming building or structure for such building or structures destroyed in the Sulphur Fire for a period of two years from the date of this resolution. The non-conformity shall not be increased, i.e. the rebuilding or reconstruction shall not increase the footprint of the building or structure.
