MEMORANDUM

TO: Jim Steele, Chairman, Board of Supervisors
FROM: Brian L. Martin, Sheriff/Coroner
DATE: March 13, 2018
SUBJECT: (a) Waive the formal bidding process, pursuant to Lake County Code Section 38.2, as it is not in the public interest due to the unique nature of goods or services; and (b) Approve Purchase of seven (7) 2018 Chevy Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles and one (1) 2018 Dodge Power Wagon from Matt Mazzei Chevrolet in the Amount of $336,490.36 from the Sheriff/Pursuit Replacement Budget Unit 2217, Object Code 62.72.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Sheriff's Department is requesting Your Boards' approval to purchase seven - 2018 Police Pursuit vehicles. Four of these vehicles will be marked patrol units and will be used in the enforcement division. The other three will be assigned to the Command Staff.
Vehicle quotes were requested from Matt Mazzei Chevrolet, Platinum Chevrolet, Silveira Auto and McConnell Auto. Silveira Auto and McConnell Auto did not respond to our bid request.
Copies of the bid specifications and quotes are attached for your review along with a spreadsheet of the various bids.
We are asking that you waive the normal sealed bid process under Ordinance #2406, section 2-38.2 and award the bid to Matt Mazzei Chevrolet in the amount of $336,490.36 and authorize the Sheriff/Coroner or his designee to issue a purchase order.

These vehicles are not replacement vehicles for our existing fleet, however, there are sufficient funds in the Sheriff/Pursuit Vehicle Replacement budget 2217 to complete this purchase.
