SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution Authorizing Access to State and Local Summary Criminal History Information by the Department of Child Support Services
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Attached is a Resolution which is required by the Department of Child Support Services for two purposes. The first is so the Department may obtain our own ORI which will enable us to have direct connectivity to the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS), along with CalPhoto, for use in our day to day business. This information is currently received through the DA’s office, as needed. Secondly, we need the Resolution to implement the new IRS Publication 1075 requirements of an additional background check every 10 years of service which is: fingerprint check to all 50 states, and a law enforcement check in every city and/or county the employee has resided in for the past 5 years. This will give the department state and federal level summary criminal history information and subsequent arrest notification which is required to ensure the employees of this department continue to meet the standards required by the IRS and CLETS. The department would work with Human Resources should any issues arise, with the added backgrounds, which effect the employment of an employee.
