SUBJECT: Approve Letter to Bruce Wilson, Executive Director of the Workforce Alliance of the North Bay, Urging that the Lake County Employment Development Office (EDD) remain open
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Your Board has likely heard of impending plans to close the Employment Development Department (EDD) Office in Lake County, which would be an unfortunate disservice to local residents in need of EDD services.
The local workforce development Board (a.k.a., Workforce Alliance of the North Bay of which Supervisors Steele and Simon are Governing Board members) has the final decision-making authority regarding locations of the America’s Job Center of California (AJCC), which partners with EDD.
Along with Senator McGuire, Congressman Thompson and Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry, staff is recommending your Board approve and sign the attached letter urging that the Lake County EDD office remain open.
