MEMORANDUM

TO:                                          Board of Supervisors

FROM:                     Todd Metcalf, Behavioral Health Administrator

DATE:                                          May 1, 2018

SUBJECT:                     Approve Agreement between Lake County Behavioral Health (LCBH) and Lakeport Police Department (LPD) for Crisis Responding Services and authorize the Behavioral Health Administrator to sign.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Lake County Behavioral Health (LCBH) and Lakeport Police Department (LPD) would like to enter into an agreement to allow LCBH Crisis Staff to work out of the LPD office in Lakeport. This collaboration will allow faster turn-around times in responding to crisis calls requiring local law enforcement involvement. It will help decrease the number of emergency department visits wherein LPD gets called on a behavioral health matter, and transports the client to the emergency department to wait for LCBH Crisis Staff to arrive to evaluate the client. With LCBH and LPD staff responding to calls together, this will expedite 5150 and 5250 situations and potentially eliminate unnecessary trips to the emergency department.
