MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable Board of Supervisors
FROM: Steve Hajik, Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer
DATE: June 26, 2018
SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution approving unanticipated revenue to fund Aquatic Weed Control Program
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Lake County Agricultural Commissioner anticipates receiving $19,400 in unrealized revenue this fiscal year. This is the result of unanticipated revenue from state pest detection agreements (001.2601.452.53-90). With your Board’s approval, this revenue will be used to fund portions of the County’s aquatic weed control program.
This unanticipated revenue needs to be spent this fiscal year if the County expects to meet the Maintenance of Effort (MOE with California Department of Food and Agriculture) requirements for receiving Unclaimed Gas Tax (UCGT) funds in FY 18/19. If the County does not meet the MOE requirement, UCGT funding could be jeopardized in FY 18/19. The UCGT is the largest single revenue source to the Agricultural Commissioner’s budget.
