SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution Authorizing the Assessor to apply for the State Supplementation for County Assessors' Program
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
I am requesting the Board of Supervisors approve the attached resolution. This resolution provides for the ability to submit an application for the supplementation for the County Assessors’ Program. This program is as follows; for three years the County will provide $30,000 per year and the State will provide $60,000 per year.
For 2018-2019 fiscal year, we will use the funds to scan, input and verify all of our paper files. One of the challenges that the Assessor’s office has faced is that the property data was not fully input into the property tax system, called Megabyte, when the system was purchased almost two decades ago. Without this data in the system, the office has been hindered from using the system and the efficiencies that it offers.
This program will provide needed funds to help accomplish this purpose and make the office more efficient.
