SUBJECT: Authorize the Closure of all Social Services Facilities for Staff Enrichment, Appreciation and Team Building on Thursday October 4th, 2018 from the Hours of 12:00pm - 5:00pm
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
I would like to respectfully request Board approval to close all five Social Services facilities to the public (including protective services staff that will remain on call and available) on Thursday October 4th, 2018 from the hours of noon - 5:00pm.
Social Services is housed in five locations around the lake making joint gatherings difficult to accomplish without locating an alternative venue large enough to accommodate 250+ staff members simultaneously, therefore, we will hold the meeting at a local park. Due to ongoing interface with the public at all locations during regular work hours, it will not be possible to make this opportunity available for the entire staff and remain open to the public.
This four-hour event will include information sharing, team building exercises, and employee appreciation for the monumental work done by the DSS staff as Disaster Services Workers in the Evacuation Shelters, Emergency Operations Center and at the Local Assistance Center and equally, by those covering for them, to ensure the public was served without interruption, during the recent wildfires. The event will also include lunch (subsidized by utilizing E.A.T.S. funds).
