MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable Members of the Lake County Board of Supervisors
FROM: Don A. Anderson, District Attorney
DATE: September 27, 2018
SUBJECT: Consideration of Resolution Authorizing the 2018-19 Grant Project-Lake County Victim-Witness Assistance Program and Authorize the Chair to Sign the Certification and Assurance of Compliance
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) has released the request for application for the Victim-Witness Assistance Program Grant which will reimburse costs of up to $251,156 and requires a local funds match of $31,688. However, the CalOES grant coordinator assured us that 80% of the local match requirement will be waived and we will only have to budget for $6,338 on our application. This is an annual, on-going grant that must be applied for each year. If awarded, this will mark the 33rd year that the Victim-Witness Division of the District Attorney’s Office has been funded. The grant period will run from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019 and will pay for approximately 2.5 full time equivalents of permanent Victim Advocates, 100% of two Extra Help employees, 45% of operating expenses, and upgrades to equipment.
