SUBJECT: (a) Approve the issuance of a Purchase Order to Hillside Powersports Marine for a 2017 Yamaha Dual Sport Motorcycle in the amount of $7,350; and (b) Approve budget transfer in the amount of $7,350 from 2201/1.13 to 62.72
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Sheriff's Department requests approval for the purchase of a 2017 Yamaha Dual Sport Motorcycle in the amount of $7,350.00. This purchase is being made with OHV (Off-Highway Vehicle) funds so there is no cost to the county. The 25% county match is funded through California Green Sticker fees and not general fund revenue.
Due to the Pawnee and Mendocino Complex Fires, these funds were not utilized for conducting patrols in the recreational areas as originally budgeted. A modification request was submitted to and approved by California State Parks for this purchase.
Bids were requested and received from Hillside Powersports Marine, K and B Motorsports and Factory Powersports. The bids are attached for your review.
Bids were received for 2018 models from each of the vendors. Hillside Powersports Marine would have been awarded the bid with the local vendor preference. However, Hillside Powersports Marine offered a 2017 at a reduced cost, which the other two vendors did not have available. It is our recommendation to purchase the 2017 model at a reduced cost.

FISCAL IMPACT (Narrative): These funds are currently budgeted in the Sheriff/Coroner budget 2201/1.13. Due to the Pawnee and Mendocino Complex Fires, staff was not available to conduct patrols as well as the recreational areas were closed to the public.
